Tempered Glass
As a member of safety glass, the main characteristic of tempered glass is its safety. When tempered glass is damaged by external force, it will break into small, almost harmless particles, instead of sharp, jagged fragments, which could seriously injure our body.
Tempered glass can withstand higher temperatures than ordinary glass, making it suitable for use in environments exposed to significant heat, such as kitchen backsplashes, oven doors, and glass cookware. Its ability to endure temperature variations without breaking also makes it an excellent choice for exterior applications like skylights and facades.
Tempered glass is approximately four to five times stronger than standard glass of the same thickness. This increased strength is achieved through a rapid cooling process during its manufacture, which creates a state of compression on the surface of the glass. This process not only enhances its durability but also makes it more resistant to impact and thermal stress.
Shottglass offers mainly two kinds of tempered glass: flat tempered glass and curved tempered glass, both of them can provide superb safety property.
Flat tempered glass: By using high-quality float glass as the basic glass sheets, the self-explosion rate and surface distortion of our flat tempered glass are effectively controlled. This greatly reduces the after-sales service cost and improves the product experience.
Curved tempered glass: Compared to regular bent/curved glass, this type of glass is better suited for applications that require greater attention to safety, such as curtain walls, glass partitions, and glass balustrades.
In architecture and interior design, tempered glass is extensively used for windows, doors, and partitions. Its strength and safety features make it ideal for high-traffic areas, such as staircases, hallways.
Tempered glass is a standard material for vehicle windows, especially side and rear windows. Its ability to withstand impact and reduce the injury in accidents makes it an essential component of automotive safety.
Tempered glass is also used for many modern furniture pieces and household appliances. It is commonly found in tabletops, shelves, shower doors, and as protective glass panels in various appliances. Its durability and sleek appearance make it a favored material for manufacturers and designers.
In commercial and public buildings, tempered glass is used for exterior facades, skylights, and curtain walls due to its ability to endure environmental stresses and its safety characteristics. It is also used in the construction of public transport shelters, phone booths, and various other public infrastructure where safety and durability are required.
